8-30-24 THOUGHTS
Our reading this morning might be called “the great change”! The KINDNESS OF GOD SAVED US IN JESUS! It happened in “a body that was prepared.” It includes a WASHING and a POURING. GRACE JUSTIFIES. We are made HEIRS “according to the HOPE of eternal life.” The Message Bible renders Rom 6:4 “ When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus.” 2Cor 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, [he is] a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Col 3:1-4 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Titus 3:3-7 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.
4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
My Prayer:
Lord, thank You for changing our eternity from death to life. Thank You for the awesome picture of Jesus’ “death-burial-resurrection.” Thank You for our participation in that grace. May Christ truly be our life. Help us to set our minds on things above, helping others to do the same. May we realize the eternal hope of Your glory. Your Kingdom calls, may we answer. In the name of our Savior, Amen.
